Most of Hastings Pier is currently closed because the Council believe parts of it to be unsafe. The owners of the pier are disputing this claim, and the pier will be closed until the matter is settled in court. Because of the closure, local residents who care about the pier have formed “Friends of Hastings Pier” (FOHP) – a group to lobby for a safe, sustainable future for the pier.

FOHP has been formed by local people concerned about the future of Hastings pier. It is not politically aligned, and anybody is welcome to join.
FOHP are lobbying for the re-opening of a safe, attractive pier at the earliest possible date. In the short-term it will liaise with both Ravenclaw Investments (the owners of the pier – an off-shore company based in Panama) and Hastings Borough Council to make sure the pier is kept secure and well-maintained so it does not detract from our seafront.

The group will also be a formal body to represent the numerous people in the town and beyond who care about the future of the pier, and a vehicle to keep people informed about the latest developments. Through a small annual membership fee, FOHP will be able to keep members informed via a website and newsletter, and to explore possible futures for the pier. The more members we have, the more power for change we will have!

10 am to Dusk in aid of Friends of Hastings Pier

 We have started a winter Market on the Front of Pier to raise funds, It began on 25th November. A variety of stalls, with NO Catering stalls, but fresh & home made produce.
As the space is limited stalls must book in advance, with no admittance on the day.
